The San Francisco Giants have acquired Mike Tauchman from the New York Yankees for reliever Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later.

Tauchman, 30, a veteran of five major league seasons, had a breakout year for the Yankees in 2019 when he set career bests with a .277 average, 13 home runs and 47 RBIs.

With Clint Frazier and Brett Gardner splitting time in left field, there was little opportunity for Tauchman to find a spot in the Yankees' lineup.

Peralta, 29, is 2-1 with two saves and a 5.40 ERA in 8 1/3 innings over 10 appearances this season.

Many are beginning to wonder if the Washington Nationals will look to deal Max Scherzer this summer if they aren't in contention in the National League East.

Scherzer, who is slated to become a free agent at the end of the season, has full no-trade rights as a 10-and-5 player.

The Texas Rangers have traded Rougned Odor to the New York Yankees for Minor League outfielders Antonio Cabello and Josh Stowers.

Odor, 27, did not make the Rangers' Opening Day roster and was designated for assignment on April 1. He'll add a left-handed batter to the Yankees' mostly right-handed lineup.

Texas is expected to absorb almost the entirety of the $27 million owed to Odor, according to sources. He's due $12 million this year, $12 million in 2022 and a $3 million buyout on a $13 million club option in 2023.

The Atlanta Braves have acquired Orlando Arcia in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the deal for the infielder, Atlanta is sending right-handed pitchers Chad Sobotka and Patrick Weigel to Milwaukee.

"He's kind of an up-and-coming guy," Brian Snitker said. "I was a little surprised he was available. Any time you can upgrade and add to depth at the shortstop position it's really a good move."
